Finding a tasty plant-based burger just got a little easier for Jersey City residents. B.Good Food is now carrying four plant-based burgers at all of its locations. (Here in Jersey City that includes 30 Montgomery near Exchange Place and 525 Washington Blvd. in Newport).
Instead of recreating the taste and texture of meat, the health-focused eatery chose to create its own plant-based burgers showcasing the tastes of locally sourced veggies. The new burgers offer a mix of vegan, vegetarian, and blended options. They include:
- Falafel: Chickpea burger, whipped feta, spicy cucumbers, lettuce, tomato
- Jalapeño & Cheddar: Poblano quinoa burger, cheddar, jalapeño-corn salsa, lettuce, cilantro, chipotle purée
- Sweet Heat: Beet pineapple burger, caramelized onions, kale, spicy slaw, beet hummus
- Turkey Medley: Turkey mushroom burger, gruyère, sautéed mushroom, caramelized onions, chipotle aioli
If you’re new to plant-based foods — or you simply don’t want to give up meat — the Turkey Medley is for you. It’s a mix of turkey meat and mushrooms topped with melted gruyère, caramelized onions, and chipotle aioli. Meanwhile, vegans can opt for the Sweet Heat, which is made from beets, pineapple, and topped with B.Good’s spicy slaw.
We liked the Sweet Heat the most, which offers a nice balance of sweetness and spice. Texture-wise, the patty breaks apart pretty easily — like many non-meat burgers — but the taste is excellent. (If you prefer a more mild burger, you might want to ask for less spicy slaw). The Turkey Medley is our second favorite. It has the texture, taste, and look of a traditional turkey burger, but with the added earthy taste of mushrooms.
The four burgers are on B.Good’s menu (at all locations) permanently.
B.Good Adds New Asian-Inspired Bowls
In addition to plant-based burgers, the fast-casual eatery has also added two new bowls to its menu.
- Spicy Korean Bowl: roasted watermelon, kimchi, avocado, grains, spicy slaw, mixed greens, scallions, crispy rice, gochujang aioli
- Korean Burger: beef, kimchi, avocado, lettuce, gochujang aioli
B.Good is also offering a kelp-based kimchi made with kelp from Atlantic Sea Farms. The bowls are only available through December.
