The New York City pizza that foodies and celebrities line up for alike is expanding to New Jersey.
Artichoke Basille Pizza has signed a five-unit franchise deal to bring their rapidly expanding pizzerias to Jersey City, Hoboken, New Brunswick, Princeton, and Newark.
Known for their creative artisanal pizzas — such as their signature Artichoke pie, which is made with spinach and cream sauce, artichoke hearts, mozzarella, and pecorino romano — Artichoke Pizza has been named one of the 10 New York City slices to try before you die by Buzzfeed.
The brainchild of cousins and best friends, Francis Garcia and Sal Basille — the first Artichoke Basille’s Pizza opened on 14th Street back in 2008. Since then, the chain has expanded throughout New York and the boroughs.
Although the exact Jersey City location is still unknown, Artichoke Pizza’s arrival will further boost Jersey City’s pizza game, which is already home to New York’s best pizza as declared by the New York Times.
