Author, chef, restaurateur, and Jersey City resident Hari Nayak recently soft opened his first restaurant, Soul Curry, in Hoboken.
Located at 618 Washington Street (in the former home of Matt & Meera), the BYOB restaurant specializes in classic southern Indian cuisine using locally sourced meats, seafood, and produce.
Trained at the Culinary Institute of America, Nayak has worked under acclaimed chef Alain Ducasse and is the author of numerous cookbooks. In addition to founding Dosateria, he’s also the culinary director for Cafe Spice and a food consultant at numerous ventures. In 2016, he was named one of India’s top chefs by the Huffington Post. Nayak has also made multiple appearances on Food Network.
Entrees at Soul Curry include a Banana Leaf Sea Bass ($18), Chimichurri Chicken Tikka ($14), and numerous vegetarian dishes like a Cashew Crusted Veg Kofta ($16). You can check out the full menu online (PDF).
Soul Curry is open and making deliveries to Jersey City via Grubhub and UberEats.
