The 10-course dinner is offered every Friday night

Cafe Alyce colony of oystersOne of our favorite Jersey City eateries is expanding its menu with a new dinner tasting option. Cafe Alyce is now offering a themed dinner every Friday night. The current dinner, called 1894, is a 10-course meal centered around the history of Jersey City.

The 10-course meal shares what people ate in 1894, says owner Tory Aunspach. Each plate tells a story about Jersey City, the communities that helped build the city, and/or landmarks located throughout the city. One entree called “Loaf of Milk,” for instance, is an homage to Borden’s milk processing plant, which back in the 1900s was located where Cafe Alyce now stands.

Meanwhile, Pickled Ear is a gorgeous plate of pickled vegetables. People in the 1900s oftentimes pickled their food to prevent it from spoiling so rapidly.

Cafe Alyce sits high in our guide to the best brunch in Jersey City and we’re happy to say their new dinner service doesn’t disappoint. Doors for dinner service open at 5:50pm with dinner starting promptly at 6pm. Dinner is BYOB and costs $127 per person. Reservations can be made on Tock.
